DVD Architect 6 letterbox problem

rocknrollkat wrote on 4/24/2020, 12:35 PM

Hello, new guy here.
My video clips play 'letterboxed' on the DVD player and screen.
If I render a 16X9 test pattern jpeg, it fills the TV screen, which is 16X9.
If I render a 16X9 mpeg2 clip it plays with black bars, top and bottom on the TV screen.
Both jpeg and MP2 clips display correctly in the preview screen in DVD Architect 6.
What am I doing wrong ?

Follow this link and cut and paste the Media info as well as maybe a still capture of your video.

Set your DVDA Project Properties accordingly, for both your Menus and Program Source.

We cannot help you with either your player or teevee aspect settings.

Musicvid,
Thank you, I have the DVD architect program set up as you suggested, how do I change the menu settings ?
I have searched the manual, the internet, no dice.

You may want to start with my free 4 part Basic Training tutorials for DVD Arch.

Hi Steve, I've watched your 4 part series, excellent , thank you.
I'll watch 'em again, no worries.
I have the problem solved to some degree.
If I resize my 16X9 test pattern to 800 X 600 in Irfanview (looks squished) and render it in Vegas 12 Program Stream NTSC, then load it into DVD Arch6 (Properties = 4X3), it displays properly on my DVD player and 16X9 T.V. screen, unsquished, fills the screen completely.
Seriously.
3 days of work and I stumbled upon this solution.
I have NO idea why it works (well, I do have an idea) and since I am new to this part of video production, I'll just ask questions, etc.
Thanks for listening !
