DVD Import Which Version?

ALO wrote on 11/10/2021, 7:54 PM

I don't see the "import DVD" option in Vegas 19's menus. Anyone know which version was the last with that feature? I probably own it. Just don't want to randomly reinstall everything. I did find a post here which talks about an alternate way to get the video stream into Vegas, but I didn't see a way to get the audio also. Thanks!

Based on the 'File / Import' menu, the last VP version to have a 'DVD Camcorder Disc' option was VP17. It's also in VP16 but not in VP18 or 19. I've just checked my current installs of 16, 17, 18 and 19.

Copy the entire DVD file structure to a folder on your hard drive. In Vegas go to the video_TS folder. Drag VTS_01_0.IFO to your timeline. Entire DVD is imported.

@Dexcon

"It's also in VP16 but not in VP18 or 19."

It's still there in V18 and V19, but has to be enabled since its considered a deprecated feature.

@wwaag  ... a good find. Thank you. And I'm sure that @ALO will likely no longer have to install an earlier version of VP.

Yeah, there's the AC3 import limitation; even VP14 won't import my 5.1 audio from yesteryear.

It's all good on VP8.0c, though. I'm finding the old versions are worth keeping available.

VideoRedo 6 now has full DVD import/export. It's proven expeditious to load my old shows and save them as AVC/AAC5.1

Been running some tests this week with the video stream and Vegas 19 Smart Adaptive Deinterlace / Upscale. It's quite promising, but there are a couple of bugs when working with anamorphic source that need to be addressed.

Here's where I'm at with it, though. VRD smart upscale on left, Vegas Upscale on right, both 720p after upscaling (yes, that's South Pacific with full orchestra, 2007).

Awesome -- thank you so much!
