Embedding markers

Jessariah67 wrote on 7/28/2018, 1:30 PM

The options drop down is greyed out for embedding markers in MP4. All I could find was older "Sony" threads on this. Is there something that I'm missing? I'm just using it within VP internally, so I don't ned another program to recognize them. This used to be a time-saving feature for pulling renders into other projects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Vegas does not write chapter marks for mp4 if that is what you are asking.

They are for indexing avi and mpeg mostly for DVD.

Search the Forum archives. A couple of folks, one fairly recently, have outlined how markers can be embedded in mp4 files using software outside Vegas.

Thanks for getting back!

I don't use them for chapter markers, just for reference - like if you insert a marker in the trimmer, you can see it embedded in the clip on the timeline. Workaround for me would be to render MOVs instead - just a lot larger file (which h264 or h265 would solve...

Appreciate the replies.

If you have Vegasaur installed you could use this tool in Vegas Pro to embed MP4 markers.

Sorry my bad english.

If I understood correctly, personally and when it is necessary for reference I use a false audio track (in "solo" mode) exported separately as wav that will preserve the marks. Then, and put this in the new timeline, the marks are recovered through the script "Promote Media Markers".

I hope it is useful.

I'll have to look into Vegasaur. I've use Ultimate S frequently, but Vegasaur might be a nice compliment.

Hi Juan. That's a great workaround that I never thought of. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks to everyone.
