Error code -57 this machine isn't licensed

michael-harrison wrote on 7/30/2020, 3:42 PM

(the message is paraphrased, I'm doing a reinstall now, skip to the bottom for the final chapter)

Getting that error code on startup after adding a couple of drives and rebooting. I don't know if those two things are related to the error but that's literally all I've changed.

Thing is this machine *was* newly licensed (new machine) and working fine before adding the drives.

Bit of a whine... the search in the forum really stinks. The only post I can find with this code is one about a trial on windows 7 and it ends without a resolution. I'm *certain* I've seen other posts on this topic.

I've made sure that the pc has an internet connection and have removed the registration for this machine, so there's only one in the magix system now.

[time passes]

Reinstall finished.

And the error is gone.

I'm going to leave this here for the next person. Apparently if you change some number of components in your system, your license will stop working? Something for the FAQ @VEGASDerek ?

If you change out certain hardware, your "Machine ID" will change, and that is the search term that will lead you to a solution.

This still didn't work.  I tried removing Vegas 18 and reinstalling it.  Still got an Error 57.
