How much empty space is on your render-to location and how long is the project?

The only time I've seen that recently is in relation to rendering a .wav file in a 2.5 hours long project - in which case checking 'Render large Wave files as Wave64' in Preferences solved the problem. I am not really sure what audio format PCM audio is saved on an .avi render, but if it is .wav then this could be a consideration if it is .wav and the project is lengthy - and there is plenty of free space on the drive to which the render is rendering.

hello friends, i changed option to off in preferences>video>GPU acceleration. The video to render is 12 seconds long. I have over 300 Gb free in the folder. Version of Vegas 16. Whatever my video size to render in uncompressed AVI, when it reaches 1.99 Gb it ends.

Sounds like you're on a FAT32 drive.

Why are you rendering to uncompressed AVI. It is not a delivery format.

Follow the instructions, please:

Fat32 drives can hold files up to 4.4GB in size. This is odd, because I've rendered huge avi files before, but as Musicvid stated, unless you need an alpha channel, there is no reason to use that format.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Depends. Type 2 AVI can be stored up to 4 GB.
