Field Sequential DVD

MalB wrote on 10/14/2017, 8:34 AM

I have an early 3D DVD called "Encounters in the Third Dimension" made in the field-sequential format. (Pal UK) This worked fine on my old CRT but I would love to view it using my Panasonic (Sorry, Sony!) PT-AT5000 projector. So far with no success. If I transferred this DVD onto my Movie Studio Platinum13 programme, could I convert this to a usable format and copy it onto a fresh DVD? Sorry to appear so dim but I am in my late 70's and the old brainbox doesn't work as efficiently now.

Can you define the problem of 'no success' in more detail?

Also, is this the mentioned PT-AT5000?

Hello SET,

The problem is , when in field sequential mode, the film stays as 2 flashing images rather than one clear image. All modern 3D movies are processed correctly.. Apparently, it's something to do with the frame rate..The film also has "colorCode", a form of anaglyph which is not as good, of course.

Yes, that is the projector I'm using. It's excellent..

Is this a commercial DVD?

Vegas doesn't work with encrypted content.

MakeMKV to Handbrake is your best path for experimentation. Sorry, we can't give you support for that here.

Yes, it is a commercial disc, probably encoded. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Many Thanks for your help
