Oh, neat! It's hard to do that kind of thing without the shadows looking green. But you pulled it off. Keep those tests coming!

Well, you need to check out Vegas Pro 17 new Color grading feature, that is a game changer! and will be going through continued improvements..... Film Convert is great, but this new Vegas three way color grading with color curves and a lot more features included into one straight panel is wonderful and far better integration along with outputting great results.

Yeah, I have seen how new VP17 has changed the grading tools but it is not even to FC.

FC is emulating program with a lot of tuning possibilities while in VP are just "normal" tools. Emulating gives you something more and it is not possible to get the same results in standard VP :-)

Filmconvert is a nice and relatively easy way to get an interesting look. Can be used standalone or in conjunction with V17's imporved CC controls.

BTW, is this Filmconvert pro or Nitrate? I couldn't get FC Nitrate OFX to work properly with Vegas 16, only in Resolve.

miroslav-h wrote on 1/13/2020, 2:30 PM

It is FC pro without Nitrate. I think that OFX Nitrate is available only for Da Vinci not for Vegas :-(

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 1/14/2020, 6:56 AM

Nitrate is available for Vegas Pro!...... The DaVinci Resolve OFX plugin version is also for Vegas Pro.

Kinvermark wrote on 1/14/2020, 7:06 AM

Have you tested it? I couldn't get it to work in Vegas. I am pretty sure I read a post from RubberMonkey Software saying it wasn't working with Vegas, and it wasn't clear if it ever would.

Kinvermark wrote on 1/14/2020, 7:22 AM

Looks like still in the works...

Yes i have tested and used it..... The trial is there for you to test (version 3.01), the previous version was the one that had an issue with Vegas.

Kinvermark wrote on 1/14/2020, 8:18 AM

Hmmm, strange. I have version 3.01 already, but downloaded it some weeks ago. None of the sliders have any effect in Vegas 16.

Did you download a Vegas specific ofx version ? Recently? Are you on Vegas 17?

Thanks in advance for any illumination you are able to offer.

The Nitrate download link for Vegas specific OFX is offering up the old Filmconvert Pro installer. The 3.01 Resolve OFX one is the same as what I already have installed (byte for byte) so I am at a loss as to how to download anything that works. Furthermore, Vegas is NOT listed as one of the planned Nitrate updates in the FAQ's.

So, it's a mystery to me. Any possibility you are looking at Filmconvert Pro, not Nitrate?

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 1/14/2020, 9:07 AM

Kinvermark, you are not conversing with a newbie here, for you to be asking me if i am looking at Filmconvert Pro and not Nitrate!..... Nitrate 3.01 OFX for Resolve is working in Vegas Pro 17 (with maybe a slight limitation depending on varied graphics card), but an official Vegas Pro version will soon be available for download (that's the reason!).

A license for Nitrate 3.01 OFX Resolve works equally also for Vegas Pro!

Kinvermark wrote on 1/14/2020, 11:35 AM

Yes, Steve, I know you are not a newbie. Just trying to reconcile conflicting evidence. Big part of the blame rests with Rubber Monkey's website - it is contradicting itself and is really uninformative about Vegas's status.

I no longer have Vegas 17 installed, so I can't comment on that.

I can say that it still does not work on my Vegas 16 system. I can also say that there is no new downloader for Nitrate OFX after the November 26, 3.01 release and that Rubber Monkey still have Vegas support listed as "in progress" as per the screen capture I shared above.

I have Vegas 17 installed and did try the Nitrate 3.01 OFX trial. It doesn't work at all. I have a GeForce 1050 (laptop) card if it matters. The interface is awful- just sliders, and none of them have any effect on the preview window. I can't find the fancy new effects FilmConvert was promoting anywhere. It's the same functionality as the old version... except it doesn't work.

So I take them at their word that Vegas is in progress and only works on some systems.

I like what I've seen of the new interface of FilmConvert but will reserve judgment until it's fully functional in Vegas. The previous version was just too lacking in basic features for me to want to use it for anything (either give me flexible powerful color correcting in once place, or I'll just keep doing a bunch of Fx and be happy with that. I'm not going to do both). The film conversions seemed really hit or miss depending on source footage (I have experience with many of the actual film stocks from my photography days).

If I'm missing something and there is a way to get it to work, do let me know as I'd like to try it.

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 1/15/2020, 5:18 AM

You are not missing anything RogerS, as i have mentioned above, it will not work for all due to certain variables, that is why an official version with full functionality across the board will soon be available for Vegas Pro....

RogerS wrote on 1/15/2020, 8:44 AM

Wonderful. Do post here when it comes out so we don't miss it.
