group

Hi, i'm having problems with grouping.

For some reason, my video & audio clips on the timeline are separated, when dragging.

I tried selecting them all and pressing g, for making a new group.

That works, but when i want to delete 1 event, all of them are slected blue, and all are deleted.

How to solve this?

grtz

You would either need to "U"ngroup that event from the group and then delete it or turn on "Ignore Event Grouping" (it's a button below the timeline) and delete the event. Don't forget to turn "Ignore Event Grouping" back off, though.

Thnx jetdv...i do that, but i have a 100 events coming on the timeline, and they all are video/audio separated. So i select them to the end, to group them. But after that if i want to delete one event...they become all selected (in blue), and get all deleted.

@rik Also why Select all? there's a lasso select option for the cursor at the bottom of the timeline, or you can select one event (video) press Ctrl then click on & select as many as you want to group etc., or click & hold the left mouse button & then click on the right mouse button, this will make the cursor Select mode, whilst still holding the left mouse button click the right button again this will select in the horizontal, & clicking the right button again will select in the vertical

For one media clip, the video/audio should automatically be grouped when that media is dragged to the timeline. You would only need to manually group if you want more than one media clip to be grouped together.

Once grouped, they will behave as one and you'll need to "ungroup" to delete only that one event.

I would make sure that "Ignore Event Grouping" is turned off too.

yes, but for some reason all are detached.

yes, i do so.

ok, but there is more than one event, there dozens i do have to ungroup then?

@rik Try right click Add Missing Stream for Selected Data, you can delete all audio tracks first then select all & right click Add Missing Stream for Selected Data, it will add the grouped audio back in but any effects added to the deleted audio would be lost

first make sure this isn't highlighted blue as @jetdv says

i solved it by, deleting the coming events i had to trim from the timeline.

An drag them again on it, from it's folder.

Everything seem ok now.

rik, you may want to explore using the Auto Ripple function; you can select and delete one or two events, and the rest will slide over to fill the gap.

In Movie Studio 17 Platinum, once "ignore event grouping" is clicked it seems like unclicking doesn't reset original groups.
