Had to re-install after computer fix

Billy-Vick wrote on 6/7/2021, 9:47 AM

My computer would not re-boot & had to be fixed causing me to lose PROGRAMS but no data. I used MOVIE STUDIO for all my photos and videos. It, of course updated & worked beautifully. I had my installation disc to reinstall. Although all past installation DATA & FILES are there, NO past programming data is so it says my license on the software is expired. What do I do? I need access to all my data! Windows 10 HP tower. Waiting now to finish a project started before computer locked up!

Trying to translate what you're saying... It sounds like you lost your project files. If this is the case, it has nothing to do with an expired license but instead when Movie Studio was "lost" it took your project files with it (a project file being all of your saved work). By default it saves them in your Documents folder, though. Contact MAGIX support about renewing your license, else download Movie Studio 17 and use it as a trial version for 30 days. Your old project files (if you find them) will likely be compatible.

NO, I have all my files. The repair in the computer caused me to lose all my PROGRAM EXECUTABLE DATA. I did NOT lose any of my data files, I just don't have the programs to use them. So when I re-install the programs I can use all my former data files. With MOVIE STUDIO, when I re-installed it, it tried to find older versions to UPDATE to the most current version but ALL versions had been deleted and the software disc I had was old and out of date by a year or two. So how can I get my MOVIE STUDIO PROGRAM back? I have all the data from the original install, all my photos and videos I imported into the program since I bought it BUT I CAN'T ACCESS anything since it won't let me use the re-installed program saying it is too old and has not been being updated, although it HAS BEEN REGULARLY updated.

@Billy-Vick Because your computer has been repaired, it looks as if Magix sees it as a new computer. You must de-register and then register your newly repaired computer. Log in to your Magix account and select My Products. Find the entry for your Movie Studio where you can de-register it from your computer. Note that I believe you can only do this once per month. You can then see your serial number and download the current build. When you install MSP, you will be asked to enter your serial number.

@Billy-Vick

Your Magix account is here. It contains the downloads, the serial numbers, and everything else you need to de-register your old box and activate the new one. When re-activating, do not re-use your old Machine ID.
