Having problem, editing Zoom recordings

Noel-Ong wrote on 8/28/2021, 9:39 AM

I have just made a Zoom recording and I am trying to edit in Vegas Pro 18. When I play back, the video is losing sync with audio, the video is crossing each other. Going forwards, overlaying previous videos. Why is this? When I play the video on its own, it plays correctly. Just using a normal video player. But as soon as I use Vegas Pro 18, all these issues starts.

And the details of the video file?

Noel-Ong wrote on 8/28/2021, 10:03 AM

its a normal zoom recording saved as an MP4

Variable frame rate is often a problem in VP, check out the file's attributes, and re-render in handbrake (or other transcoder app) to a constant FR is often recommended.

Noel-Ong wrote on 8/28/2021, 10:29 AM

I used to just bring the files into VP 15 or 16 when I was doing lots of zoom and editing them. Now in VP 18, I see the problem. I will try and use that. Do you think Premier would have this issue?

I suggest encoding your Zoom video in Handbrake first.

Noel-Ong wrote on 8/28/2021, 10:45 AM

I will go check , but the the first question is how :-)

To download Handbrake for free, go to http://www.Handbrake.fr

Noel-Ong, could you post a link to a Zoom video that is presenting the problem? I am not able to repro this issue with Zoom footage that I'm generating. thanks

I'm currently in the middle of editing the Zoom video, and had similar trouble like described in the middle of cut.

What I did to overcome, the best I can describe..., is putting the playhead outside that clip area or at least on 'different cutting clips' - 'force' VP19 to reread that event clip area where playhead's position is. Also, kept Video Preview quality to Best Full also helps.

Thank you for the response. I followed a comment to use Handbrake. Used it and I have not had a problem since. I have also updated to Vegas Pro 19 also. Seems like a more stable platform.

Used that and I dont seem to have that problem anymore. Thank you
