Help with a complex text animation

ChrisDDay wrote on 10/24/2019, 7:52 PM

Attached is a video of a text/title effect I am trying to create in Vegas Pro 15 (video created using PowerPoint). The key elements of the effect that are important:

  1. Step 1 - The acronym (in this case EUREKA) appears as a single word with no embedded spaces
  2. Step 2 - The letters in EUREKA spread out to support the end-state spacing (see below)
  3. The remaining letters appear in a smaller/fainter font in random order, eventually filling in the complete thought.
  4. All of this is on a transparent background (will be superimposed over a video)

Any ideas on how to accomplish this without creating 20 separate video tracks each supporting the animation of a single letter?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, ChrisDDay!

Try to use the pan&crop for each track of a letter or phrase or, make the final result desired on a image editor in 1920x1080 template (PS, for example). Separe each letter/ phrase in a layer, importa to Vegas timeline with right button mouse "across tracks" e animate how you wish using pan&crop. This resource is so fantastic! Use your creativity and success!

In Vegas, I believe you will need one track per letter, the post above has some good suggestions (make a PSD for each letter), you should be able to use Track Motion for the animation.

Made with legacy Text generator.... you could do the left towards the right alignment by applying track motion.

Set up your "unusual" spacing, with space bar, click animate, then set that at Five second mark with a key frame, 'copy' that key frame, place at the beginning, paste, 'shrink' the tracking on the properties section.

Not exactly the same effect, this was done with 2 videotracks.

Try with ProType Titler. You will get better result

I'd also suggest using ProType Titler instead as that way you could edit and animate each single character within one title event (and one track).

Wow ProType Titler is amazing, did the trick and just one event on my timeline! Thanks!
