Highlight (Make yellow box appear) a clip that the scrubber is on.

I would like to Highlight (Make yellow box appear) a clip that the scrubber is on by using the keyboard and not the mouse. I'll try to explain what I'm talking about. I have 6 clips and my scrubber is on clip 3 but it is NOT Highlighted (yellow box). My question is: can I use a keyboard shortcut to highlight clip 3 where my scrubber is? In Pinnacle Studio (V) did that. Thanks in advance.

I'm not at my editing computer but I don't think that's possible. The problem would be with multiple tracks, one above the other: how would the program know which clip to select? It's the act of selecting specific clips that causes the yellow box to appear.

Right now, track 1 is selected, not highlighted. That's how it wouldn't select the other clips. 80% of the time I work on the 1st track. I left Pinnacle years ago but this one feature I loved. I work much faster when I don't have to reach for the mouse. Can't believe that professional software doesn't have this. There has to be a way.

You might take a look at the list of keyboard commands at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/webhelp/vegaspro/12/ENU/Content/ShortcutKeys.htm] . I haven't had time to do this but it will show you every possibility in the program using the keyboard.

It can be done by scripting.

You can download this script -> "SelectEvents", unzip and copy the file "SelectEvents.js" to the the folder "Script Menu" which is in the main folder of Vegas Pro 14. This script was initially written by John Meyer, 2004. I just modified a single line to make it work with Vegas Pro 14.

Then use "Options/Customize Keyboard" to assign this script to the desired shortcut.

Marco, thank you! However, I have Vegas Pro 12. Could you modify it for me. Thanks!

The reverse of section 4 in the FAQs. Use Notepad. Save to the same name (SelectEvents.js) in C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12.0\Script Menu\

Not rocket science and you'll be pleased with yourself once you've done it.
