In my latest animated short "House Cleaning" I have used Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14 for all editing, color correction, effects and sound tasks. I have credited Movie Studio in the end titles.

Hope you enjoy my film, as I have enjoyed using Vegas Movie Studio :-)

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to watch the video, but I noticed your levels are blown by rendering rgb in yuv colorspace.

The fix is simple: Render again using the Studio->Computer RGB Effects Filter preset. That will restore the 16% dynamic range that was lost to clipping in your first render.

After

Thanks for your comment! I am afraid I don't quite understand it, though... I don't see any difference between your two example pictures, and I don't see any blow outs in the videofile?? And furthermore I can't find the filter you are referring to?

"Levels" is a Sony Effects filter. Effects filters can be invoked from Project Media, Tracks, Events, or Preview. In addition, your program has interactive tutorials that are your best friends going forward.

In judging levels, we often compare shadow and highlight detail to determine if there is clipping in the output that was not present in the original. Therefore, please examine the shadow detail in the wall and the chaise, and the highlights in the white sham to see where you've lost detail from your original images.

I know this must seem subtle to you now, but it was the first thing I noticed in your upload, although the content looks very entertaining.

I can share the details of leveling later, after you've caught on, or you can search the forums yourself in the meantime.. Best.

Thanks for your reply. I have worked for tv and films for 30 years, so I am well aware of the terminology. I just couldn't - and can't still - not find the filter you are refering to. And I can't still not see any difference between your two example pictures. Regarding the levels in my material they look exactly like I lighted and rendered it in my 3D software, so if I can't see the difference, the viewers propably can't either.

Then you already know about broadcast levels. That's what we'e after here in the conversion from RGB to Y'CbCr.

If you click any of the four effects buttons, you can't miss Levels and the Computer RGB to Studio RGB preset.

Good luck!
