There is a setting to turn off scene detection, which is on by default.

That is much less than the actual number of scenes, but still annoying...

@Ricardo-Talbot You're sure that your HDVtape is recorded without gaps or interruptions? As soon as there's a hick up in your tape, Vegas will start a new file while capturing.

I always used the free programme HDVsplit to capture HDV tapes, it can capture your whole HDVtape as one file or as splitted files, or splits the one file capture afterwards if necessary.

@3POINT, I think you nailed it 😉. There seems to be a "hickup" at every splice done by the Video Capture function. I will try HDVSplit.

To get just one file of the three already captured files, you can put those files on the VMS timeline and render it to Mpeg2 HDV, which is lossless because it doesn't need recompression:
