How to "Edit Generated Media" for ALL Vegas Titles and Text at Once?

VPR0444 wrote on 3/6/2019, 6:54 PM

I'm using Vegas Pro 15. I'm trying to figure out how to make changes to the sizing of all text at once.

I know you have to click on this button in order to make changes to the text such as sizing, colour etc.

But by clicking on that button, it only applies your change to the title that is selected. If I highlight all of the titles, I still can only click on one of the titles, and again, that change is only applied to the title that was selected.

But what if I want to apply the exact same change (sizing) to every single title in my video?

I could make a preset but that still means that I'd have to go in one by one to each title and apply that preset to the title.

I do know that FX can be applied to the entire track that all of these titles fall under, but it's not just effects I want to apply, I need to change the sizing first.

Does anyone have a solution? Your suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Things to try:

  • "Paste Event Attributes"
  • Vegasaur

Create a text Preset using Titles & Text in Media Generators of the Vegas.

Then use the Apply Preset function of the Titles & Text feature of Vegasaur. This is just one of several amazing features that Vegasaur has. Worth every penny of investment.

A bit sad that in 3 years nobody has answered this question with the easy solution. Indeed, the OP has just been spammed and accepted the solution! All you need to do, VPR0444 (and this took me 3 hours to find - I couldn't find it in any of the youtube videos), is just double click the subtitles (or any) Text object (in Media Generator), the VIDEO MEDIA GENERATOR will pop up. Next, you describe the style / font etc. that you want, and finally, save it. You can't overwrite the original, so give it another name and save it. Now you can select this as the template when you generate the subtitles. Probably about 3 years too late for you, but hopefully helpful for the next newbie, like me, who was tearing his hair out

@Simplest2remember To me this is exactly the same...and not a solution for the original issue of @VPR0444 were a series of text events already on the timeline should be changed.

Regenerating the text is very easy, so it's good to know one just needs to take a small step back first. I certainly wish I knew this 24 hours ago.

Retyping you mean.

Here's a cool and effective solution:

1) Upload your .srt file into Vegas

2) Create a Text&Title preset (Name it and save it)

3) Delete all your Text&Title slides on your timeline

4) Re-upload your .srt file and select the new Text&Title preset when importing SRT.

Or you can pre-create a Text&Title preset that you can select when importing SRT.

I just tried it with Vegas Pro 20 and it worked perfectly.

This is a trick that @lan-mLMC shared with me on this post:

If the text files are all on the same track you can just edit one and then apply the changes to the rest. No need to re-import from the SRT (though that works).
