Importing an FPCX .xml into Vegas Pro 18

What steps do I need to take to import an fcpxml into Vegas Pro 18?

This fcpxml is actually from LumaFusion on my iPad Pro, but I was seeing some YouTube videos where it could be brought into DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.

When I go to File-Import- and select fcpxml, then select the folder it's in, it finds it just fine.

The media comes up and I select the one that is highlighted. It brings in the media but not the timeline.

I get this message:

Format element doesn't have a "fieldOrder" attribute.
Exception Message: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
Stack Trace:   at ScriptPortal.Vegas.IMediaCOM.IsNestableProject(UInt32 mediaID, Boolean& isNestableProject)
   at ScriptPortal.Vegas.Media.CreateInstance(Project project, IMediaCOM com, UInt32 mediaID, MetaPathType metaType)
   at VegasScripts.FcpXImporter.ImportMedia(Vegas vegas, Project project, XmlDocument doc)
   at VegasScripts.FcpXImporter.Import(String fileName, Vegas vegas, Project project, LogCallback log, Action createUndoBlock, Action disposeUndoBlock)
   at VegasScripts.ProjectInterchangeImporter.HandleInvokedInternal(String openDialogName, String openDialogExt, String undoBlockName, IImporter importer)

What steps am I missing to get this done?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Try posting your question with the Dump on the Scripting forum. They may have a fieldOrder line that you can insert in your XML and make it pretty again.

Note: Support for FCP projects is pretty limited.

You can also download the VP19 trial version and see if that handles it any better.

It's not a script that's in the Script Menu folder. There's no access for "editing" that script. Only Magix can help with this issue.

@jetdv

I do understand that completely, Ed, and I was only speculating that one of you higher-level thinkers might be able to suggest an edit to his XML that would slug the 'fieldOrder' attribute that Vegas reports as missing. That's all; I never imagined it as a scripting concern... ;?)

At the very worst, it was wishful thinking on my part. Have a refreshing Holiday, and Kindest Regards.

@Dan-Tuck

Can you post or PM me the contents of your FCPXML file? I've got something that I want to try that "may" get you a step closer to a solution, but no promises.

Here you go. Have at it. I'll make one more note, this was actually made by LumaFusion. But it does pop up as a fcpxml.

Also, I did try a trial version of Vegas Pro 19 to see if they improved on that...same results at Vegas Pro 18.

I'm really hoping this can be made right by Magix. Because among all the other great features, if they can get this right, and you can in fact round-trip a project between LumaFusion on iPad and Vegas Pro, this would make this the actual most awesome "why the heck would you own a Mac when you can have Vegas" editor. But it's got to actually work guys. Come on.
