in Sony Vegas: How to customize the CLICK on the timeline so that when it's playing it behaves the same as when it's paused?

Use the Enter key.

I want to directly use the click as it's way faster, anyone knows how to change this?

The last Sony Vegas that I have is version 12 and I don't work with it since a long time.
So most contributers here don't use that version , I give you a very little chance to get a decent answer for that use in Sony Vegas.

No need for a customization. Just click onto the ruler bar above the timecode scale and it will behave exactly this way.

What is "click"? ..mouse-click, keyboard shortcut, or other.?

Otherwise, keyboard shortcuts can be created ('Options' menu). As well, the transport icons can be moved around and visible or hidden.desired location. (also in the 'Options' menu) There is also a play/pause, play/stop spacebar/F12 option in Options> Preferences> General".
