Intro- From Scratch

Hi! New to the forum. I purchased Vegas Pro 14 a couple months ago and made a couple short videos for my Youtube channel. I previously used Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 and this seems to be quite a nice upgrade. I am currently trying to make a more professional intro for my videos. I have been searching and all I can seem to find are premade intros. I want to learn how to create those intros myself. I don't know if I need additional newblueFX?

Something to these effects is what I am wondering about.

Thanks for the help!

You can't really do effects like that in Vegas by itself. Hitfilm and/or Boris FX plugins may be more appropriate than NewBlueFX plugins.

Thanks for your quick response Nick! There are quite a few options when purchasing additional plugins......Where to start? LOL! .......Any recommendations on which ones would be a better value?

I never do any of that type of stuff I'm afraid so I'm the wrong person to ask, but many here do and will no doubt comment.

Kristy-k,

Check out borisfx.com and look at their Training menu. They have Boris TV, videos, and webinars on their plugins. I found these free training resources to be very helpful in seeing how people layer FXs on to achieve a desired result.

I don't think you can do it from scratch with plugins. After Effects is standard for creating this type of intro. You can also do it in Blender (www.blender.org, free) but there's a really steep learning curve.

imho there's only three options:

a. buy and learn after effects, (or free blender) and be prepared to put in a lot of work mastering them - no easy feat i can assure you.

b. buy ready made intros and adjust where possible to your own taste.

c. if you're doing it for business, simply farm out to a professional with a comprehensive brief and bundle to cost into the budget.

i have over the years done all three (well not blender) and have come to the conclusion that for commercial work farming out is the simplest option, for most else buying ready made suffices.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I really appreciate it! I am not opposed to learning, even though it might take some time. 😁

kristy-k - Since you already have VP14 and are willing to learn, I recommend watching some of the Boris tutorial videos and making a decision. Boris has had some very good sales going on and BCC 10 can be had at a reasonable price. I purchased BCC 10 not long ago. I was intimidated by the many controls the effects have but watching tutorials on the Internet has made it easier to learn and I am getting the knack of it. It gives you a lot of creative control.

Home built PC - Corsair case, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Code motherboard, i9 9900k, 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz,  Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB graphics card, Corsair 1000 watt power supply. Windows 11.

VP 21 BCC 2024 Boris FX Continuum Complete, Titler Pro v7. Various NewBlue effects.

Ushere,

Outsource +1 Otherwise you can spend hours (days, months) trying to accomplish a bit of work that a specialist can produce in a few hours.

But then you miss out on all the fun of finding out how to do it and the sense of achievement at having done it. 😁

There is a point of no return. Sometimes it takes me two hours straight to figure out what people are jawing about in English doing subtitles (supposedly) because they really don't speak in English when they are in a group bantering back and forth in slangtractions. So how much time do you have before you meet the grim reaper?
