Just Stops....

Does anyone else have the problem of Vegas Pro 17 just stopping? I either get the doctor scope or it literally just blinks away...poof , gone. done....I swear I have never ever got through editing anything without it happening at least 2 or 3 times. The moment I get going & forget to hit "save" it will remind me by crashing. I really should have picked another program to learn...VP Sucks.

Provide the information Eric requested, and also try this:

While we understand how frustrating crashes can be, let's adhere to the community guidelines. You can use this forum to seek help for your problems, not to blow off steam about your frustrations.

Before disabling the GPU, I'd attempt to update its driver. Use a studio driver if using Nvidia.

From there, we're going to need you to follow the steps posted in that FAQ Eric posted. We need project settings, your hardware and OS setup, mediainfo reports on each type of media used, and GPU driver version, that'll get us started.

Step 1: disable so4compound.dll

fr0sty wrote on 12/27/2019, 10:37 AM

^Don't follow that advice (yet), because:

1. Disabling so4 breaks compatibility with 10 bit formats.

2. Disabling so4 only helps a limited number of users with certain hardware configurations that so4 conflicts with.

3. The alternate decoders it will use with so4 disabled are slower.

Best to try some of our other troubleshooting tips first, extreme measures such as going into internal preferences and messing around with those settings should be saved for absolute last resorts.
