Legacy Text removal

David Johns wrote on 8/6/2019, 1:04 PM

Anyone else distraught to see that the "Legacy Text" tool is now listed as deprecated and likely to be removed from future Vegas versions?

I only ever have really simple text needs and the Legacy Text tool works much better for me than the newer ones, plus all my old projects use it and would be very frustrating not to be able to open them in the future.

Or am I just a moaning dinosaur?

Because of the need for backwards compatibility with older projects, I'd find it unlikely that Magix will fully deprecate the feature, I imagine you'll still be able to enable it in preferences moving forward, however there is no reason for Vegas to have 4 different text editors. They likely restricted it to one so they can build upon it, and the one included is based on the protype titler, which they also deprecated, so it's already set up to have the best of all the previous text editors and more as they add stuff.

I don't mind as long as (Legacy) Text and ProType Titler are still accessable in some ways. I tend to forgo Titles & Text.

I guess once you keep an earlier VP version, 17 still supports it, and don’t save the older projects with say VP18 then you’re good to go.

@Marco. With you on the Legacy Text.

I definitely agree that the legacy titler should stay. For the vast bulk of my projects it is the simplest and fastest way to generate clear titles. You have all the options of kerning, tracking, shadow, glow etc and it is realy simple and logical to use. I admit the placement pane could be improved but otherwise I just go there first. Please keep it in future versions.

I have always used the Legacy text. I hate to learn new stuff if I don't have to. Then again, I didn't want to get old either but I had to learn how.

Same here; I'd hate to see it go.
