Movie Studio 16 & 17 Hangs Opening Twitch Downloads

Dan-Holt wrote on 9/6/2020, 3:07 PM

I’ve downloaded some of my streams (they download as mp4’s) but can’t load them - the program hangs: no crash or errors. It’s not an issue with length as it won’t load a 2 minute vid.

The downloaded videos play fine in other apps and I can edit them in whatever app Windows 10 comes with.

I checked for updates but have latest updates for 17. I had 16 on machine (since uninstalled) and it hung as well.

Is anyone else running into this?

Seen lately (have no link more but a copy of the text):
"
We still have not seen any error reports come to our server with your specific information attached to them.
We are aware of a crash on startup that has been frequently reported. If your issue is the same crash as the
others in the error report database, then the first thing to try is updating the Intel GPU driver on your
machine. If that is not possible (either because of an OEM restriction or because the GPU is too old),
then we suggest renaming the

So4Reader.dll inside

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\so4compoundplug

to something else (such as "_So4Reader.dll"); that should allow your to startup VEGAS and use it,
but with hardware acceleration disabled.

"
... and for later maybe this:

There is nothing in your file properties to suggest incompatibility. You should post your Vegas file properties as well so we can see which decoder is in use.

I don’t really have any Vegas project file yet - I just open it with no project loaded then drag the file in and - at the prompt - tell it to use the file’s properties.
After this I tried creating a project ahead of time - internet HD I think - but results the same. It hangs while constructing the peak file. Usually between 30 and 60%.

These same files can be played and edited in a couple other pieces of software on both my PC and iPad. Time to move on to another package.

Thanks though!

As suggested. try disabling so4. Like this:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/avc-xavc-s-issues-in-vp15-try-disabling-so4compoundplug-dll--108345/

Or, time to move on as you say. No worries.
