Moving/Copying clips witout time change

Many DAW/NLE apps I use have have a combination of keys you can use to drag a clip to another track and keep its current position on the time line. There is usualy an option to do it for a copy as well.

Is there a shortcut like this in VMS?

I didn't find it in the help file, maybe I just dont know what to call it??

You just copy it, drag it where you want it by syncing it with the original copy, using the visual blue markers.

I know how to do that, but its a heck of a lot faster if you can let the app do it for you via a key combination.

Plus, if you are doing a move, not a copy, the original clip is no longer there to reference....

To move an event between tracks keeping it at the same timecode, use the 2 and 8 keys on the numeric keypad.

Thanks! That did the trick for a move, now if I can find one for a copy...

CTRL-Drag to another track will create a copy. Use snapping to make sure they line up.

I'm wondering if holding down CTRL then pressing "2" or "8" will make a copy? Can't remember and don't have VMS or manuals in front of me, but I'm curious....

Nope. Those are already defined as other commands.

Suppose the stuff I want to copy isn't a clip, it's just a time selection on a certain track. Is there an easy way to select the stuff and copy it to another track (creating a new event) while maintaining sync?
