MP4 FILES SLOW IN EDITING AND DELAYED BY RENDERING

I'm not very good at all the answers, but you'll need to tell us some more, including - what VMS version and Build you have, more specific details about the problem, if/when it started (Did you just start using VMS, upgrade to a new version or build, etc.?) then maybe one of the real experts can get you going.

I take images with canon cameras and the footage comes with a lot of weight. These files I edit and render faster than smaller mp4 files from OBS studio.

The difference is the used codec for such a file.
Some are not or nearly compressing, others compress very much.
The latter are more difficult to handle for an edit program.
Compressing means also small(er) files.
We don't know how your OBS files look like.
You can download the free app MediaInfo to show us, how?
