Muting video tracks

Does muting an edited video track, free up resources, or does the track just need to be removed from the project to do that? IOW is the FX rendering "turned off"....or still working in the "background"?

I think you will find it is still in active memory. There is a setting in preferences to unload active resources if the program is minimized.

I looked in the Windows Task Manager, on its Performance tab, using the Vegas Pro 16 sample project. Muting the tracks appears to free up CPU but not memory.
