Need help rendering 720x480 video - Movie Studio Platinum 13

Ruben-John wrote on 4/12/2020, 6:39 PM

I have SONY MSP 13.

I have a video that is 720x480 and 59.94 frames per second. ( it was recorded off my Fatshark goggles to an Immersion RC POwerplay - drone racing stuff)..No matter how I try to render it I cant get it to upload to youtube in a sharp manner. The video comes out looking like real grainy.

as you can see it only uploads as 480p. what am I missing ? what setting should I be using.

Looks like a plastic lens to me. If you'd like to upload your original to this site, I'll take a look.

How did you upload to UT, by the "Make Movie"-YT option or by yourself?
Which exact settings did you make?

it is a glass lens (I've smashed a few in crashes lol)

I tried to use this as a guide.. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/301451-sony-vegas-proproper-video-settings-for-youtube/

the "upload to youtube " never worked for me.

Ah, now I see. The original is sharper, those settings you followed are OK (surprisingly), and the problem is all on Youtube's end. Their processing is notorious for poor motion complexity, and unfortunately there is little to nothing you can do at your end to "fix" it.

The only thing you "can" try is on Vimeo. [Edited to remove stupid response]

Or, you could slow it back down, which will help. Avoid any advice to upscale it to trigger VP9. That's totally counterproductive in this case.

Sorry to be the bearer of such mediocre advice, but that's the name of the game.

thank you so much for your time.......how does one encode at 1280x720 or for that matter slow it back down. I rarely use SONY except for my drone racing vids. So I really dont mess with it a lot to understand all the nuances. How ever if given a link I am willing to read it and follow instructions/steps .....if you have any ( so I am not wasting your time)

btw....(start at 3:30)

thats a buddy of mine recording using the same devices....notice how his video allows to play at 1440 HD...(oh I agree my video looks sharper in comparison lol...but thats a diff story)...he does not use SONY as far as I know

@Ruben-John

Check that. I had you confused with another post that had 1080p source. Leave it at 480p.

I also suggested you NOT upscale to 1440 as your buddy has apparently done. You clearly said yours is sharper, so that's not a different story, its the only story.

That's all the help I have in me, so good luck.
