I recently switched from Adobe CC to Vegas Post to save money from the monthly subscription model, so I am hoping this is just a learning curve with the new software that I am running into.
I have a multi-hour long recording that I need to split into 40-50 minute episodes. These recordings are .mp4 files with 6 audio tracks in them. The first track is a mastered mix with all audio as this content gets broadcasted out to twitch, the second track is the game audio, and then tracks 3-6 are individual microphone tracks for the various hosts that may be present at the recording.
In my workflow with Premiere, I would import the file and delete the audio tracks that are not needed. I would then cut the original file into sections for episodes and create sequences in the project for the episodes and then do the editing within the sequences that were needed for that episode.
With Vegas Pro, I thought that using Nested Timelines sounded like the best approach to try and replicate the workflow I was familiar with. When I made a nested timeline it seemed to work how I thought it would. But when I came back to the parent timeline, the audio for the selection I made nested was removed and replaced with the first audio track with all of the sources mixed down, which is not ideal at all for what I need to edit.
Am I going about nested timelines wrong? Is it better to slice the original file into the chunks I need and make a new project for each episode I am editing?
