New user question - Suitable render templates for YouTube

paul-w wrote on 7/27/2019, 11:32 AM

I have created a short video and would like to post it on youtube. When I render the video, it has so many options I get confused. Help please...

Use one of the Magic AVC Internet Templates.

That is all you need to do. Tutorials are here:

Thank you for the information Musicvid. Do you use Samplitude or Sequoia audio software?

Depends on your needs. Vegas is a fantastic digital audio workstation as well.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I'm a Magix dealer but new to Video editing. I've been using Samplitude since V8 and Sequoia since v12.

Which format would you suggest for short videos to youtube: Magix AVC/AAC MP4 or Magix HEVC/AAC MP4? Also, 4K or HD?

HEVC gets better quality at smaller file sizes, so probably that.

Correct is: HEVC has the same quality as AVC at approx 40% smaller file size. Disadvantage: encoding to HEVC takes much longer than encoding to AVC. So probably the time you save with uploading a smaller file will not weight against the time you lose while encoding.

...Unless the bitrate is quite low, then the quality is supposed to be better (not that I have tested this theory personally you understand 😀.)

Same as your source! You can't make it better by making it bigger.

Only use HEVC if your source and render is 4k.

@3POINT and @Musicvid +1
I compared both, AVC and HEVC renders.
Rendertime for HEVC is at least 10% longer on my laptop and the filesize without visible loss ( for me 😉) is between 25-50% smaller. Only for users without enough space that is maybe important but it can not bother me compared to the old DV and Mpeg2 times.
