Not Rendering Stabilization

Laxs wrote on 7/26/2018, 10:19 PM

The short of it. The stabilization options work in the preview. They aren't applied when I render a video. They were working for the first few videos I rendered.

The longer version.

I've only been using Vegas Pro 15 for a few days, but I am familiar with previous versions.

I haven't really edited for a few years and so am just getting myself familiar again, trying out things to make the editing I want to do more streamlined.

I was stabilizing some 4k footage shot on my phone with Mercalli v4. Trying to see how useful I can make it. Everything was perfectly fine, the results were excellent for the first few videos. However now it won't apply the stabilization when I render a video. Any video. Even ones I had previously rendered stabilized. Opened from the saved projects of those videos.

I have no idea why, I can't think of any setting I have changed. The video is stabilized in the preview before I render.

The videos are just panning or still shots of landscape. I believe the plug-in still is affecting the render. There will tend to be a jump in cropping during the videos.

There may be some setting somewhere. The stabilization also does not render using Vegas Stabilization and Boris Optical Stabilisation. I don't recall editing any settings. I've tried different project settings and render settings, all have the same problem.

Stabilization is applied as a Media Effect, not on the timeline.

Media effect if Vegas' own internal stabilization effect. If Mercalli v4 plug-in then applied as event effect.

99% likely OP has done something simple like disabled fx with the preview button.

I get the preview with FX. It just doesn't get applied when rendered. It's clearly impacting the render, because there are some scaling jumps that get rendered in.

It's the reverse problem of disabled FX in the preview. It's like the FX is disabled in the render. Colour correction gets applied in the render. It's stabilization.

This problem only started after I used the Event Pan / Crop on one video. I can't find or think of anything I accidentally clicked or a setting in that which would impact all videos on all projects.

Was there ever a solution to this? I am currently having a similar issue. I tried Vegas stabilization and it shows up and works for the video preview without issue, but there is no stabilization applied if I rendered out a video file. Then I purchased and tried New Blue stabilization, same result. I don't think anything happened that should have changed any settings, it just won't render the stabilization effects.

I seemed to have better luck when using stabilization on the Media level, but it should still work on the Event level too. And it does still work if I try it on a different .veg file.

What vegas version are you using?

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Just tried a 4K clip with Vegas 18 and the magix video stabilization (fx applied to timeline) and it renders fine. Additionally using the legacy stabilizer (default settings) gives a nicer stabilized image than the Vegas version with default settings.

OP uses Mercalli 4, if used on project format, it needs to be rendered in exactly that format for the food rendering

I'm using Vegas Pro 17. I got it to work by copying and pasting the whole timeline into a new project file. Had to re-analyze all the stabilization fx, but it seemed to render fine. Maybe it was something to do with there being stabilization on the Media and Event level, but hard to say. I did remove it on the Media level before using it on Event level and still had issues, but I'm not sure what else would be different. Starting from a clean slate apparently fixed it though, at least for now. Thanks for the tips!
