Possible film conversion to AVI question

I have a possible 16MM film converted to a video editable format. Strongly thinking of their 2K (1556 line format). They suggest to use the AVI format. They also list a Pro Res version (suggested for mac users). Wondering if the AVI format can work good with VegPro 16. Not sure which render to best use for that. Will be putting it on BD.

The traditional (old) format for 16mm transfer is AVI DV25 SD. Works well for DVD or BD. Seems to work well enough with that frame resolution (<150 lpi).

What are they offering? High resolution scanning won't help it very much because 16mm is so grainy, always. I think 720p would about hit the sweet spot for tiny film and bigger screens.

They offer several options. along with several restoration options. 720, 1080, 2K, 4K.

Can you have them do a small reel at 720 or 1080p and see how it looks at home? The trick is not to get it too sharp, lest the grain take over. I known it sounds counterintuitive.
