You have probably enabled track motion or event pan/crop "somewhere." Turn them off.

Post a screenshot of your timeline.

Post your file properties.

Match your project to your source media (there's an icon for that).

If all else fails, start a new project. You can save yourself a lot of pain going forward if you will follow the simple advice, "Save early, save often."

Also do you know how to find out regarding how loud stuff is, i normally have problems with rendering something then it coming out super quiet yet when i am editing it it sounds super loud.

I may be due to me adding Sony displacment to my intro for the glitch effect? http://prntscr.com/oragjj

when i ticked alpha channel scales it moved my screen on the preview more to the center but not enough meaning there is still a black border ;/

Those are not your Media file properties. Please follow the instructions already provided,.

A couple of possibilities --

1. Open Track Motion circled in red, right-click on the box frame, and reset it.

1a. FYI, Event Pan/Crop is turned on at 2:00.

2. Your preview looks strangely like analog capture. Are you quite sure the black is not already present in the original

3. There are many mini-events on the track above. Pan/Crop turned off there too?

4. What happens if you start a new project, load only the troublesome media event? Are the black bars still there?

I think i fixed it by making the section of the clip where the displacement of the glitch effect as the compositing child, i clicked that and it moved my preview screen back into the middle
