project video is only half size. Giant black border around it.

I made a movie or two with Vegas Movie 16 Platinum build 175. Not pirated.

A few early movies I made rendered just fine. But ever since I played with the PIP effect, new movies render at half the size, with a giant black border around it.

Even old movies I made fine before now when I open those projects they show up in preview half sized, and they render output to half size. That's movies that rendered fine before, no changes to any of the input video or timeline, now they render half size.

No matter what output format I pick, the movie only fills about half the frame.

Even if I just make a movie of a white background. I add it to the timeline and it previews at half size and it outputs at half size.

I wonder if I changed something in my setup which caused it. I guess I could reinstall. But before I do, maybe someone knows what I did to futz things up?

Thanks

Probably the PIP FX. Do you need it? Set it's value to 1.0 or mute/delete it.

And if you want full frame on the output, don't put it in the PIP track.

Oh for sure I got rid of all effects to see if the problem resolved. No luck. Not sure if it had anything to do with ever trying PIP in the first place, but it seemed to be about the same time frame that things went bad for me.

So here's the simplified example. I created a new project. Put a background on it. And the preview shows you the shrunken image inside a large border. The output has that large border as well.

No effects in the chain.

As what I can see, you put your events on the PIP track, which is the track just below the text track. This PIP track has a 0,5 scale set as default track FX. Where is your normal Video track?

Pls use the possibility to upload screenshots directly here in the thread and not to external image hosts.

OK that was it. Thanks. It didn't say it was a PIP track (from what I can tell) but I went ahead and deleted all the tracks and added back a default video track. Problem gone. Thanks!
