Quality Video Cables For Legacy Format Transfers

Hello Again.

I'm gathering opinions on rather or not is makes a difference using cheap RCA or SVIDEO cables over higher quality / shielded cables?

I was recently told that cheap cables will introduce certain artifacts over higher quality cables. I'm not sure what this person meant by "certain artifacts". It COULD be that he was speaking of "artifacts" that your average person would not notice anyways?

The bottom line here is, IF I need to invest in better cables, I will. If I do not, I won't.

Thank you all in advance for your time. I look forward to your response(s).

No, @crown2020, you do not need monster cables. You need shielded cables with the same IMPEDANCE as your video signal. This is especially important with RCA cables, as the vast majority are not 75 Ω Impedance. S-video cables are already the correct impedance. Your focus should be on the quality of the shield, not the price of the copper in the center conductor.

Regardless, you still need to keep them away from your unshielded audio speakers. Here's one RCA video cable suggested by Amazon.
