RAW (CR2 Canon) >>>> TIFF. Preferences?

OK, my latest Canon SX60hs produces a form of RAW (CR2) which is NOT revealed by M$ - ugh . . . My previous SX50hs which DOES produce RAW are recognised by M$ and are seen by VegasPro. . . Moving on . . . OK, I can Batch Process all these unrecognized RAWs as TIFFs using my AfterShotPro. What is best or preferable for VP16 16bit or 8bit TIFF?

TIA

Grazie

My personal opinion without knowledge of your needs or setup πŸ˜€:

16 bit Tiffs are very large and thus somewhat hard on Vegas. Compressing with LZW tiff compression makes them a little smaller, but even more difficult for Vegas to process. 8 bit uncompressed tiffs work well and look really good.

Sure. I want to intersperse the Piccies on the Timeline, mixed in with 30fps footage. I suppose I could just Batch convert to JPG and be done.

That’s good advice.

Swings & roundabouts. Both will work. JPEG more convenient; TIFF better quality / lossless (whether or not this is visible is questionable/subject to circumstances.) I would typically use TIFF's when colour grading them in a program external to Vegas prior to import.

Assuming you are not working with HDR video source, 8 bit TIFF is just great.
