Recover shortcut command?

Douglass-Ray wrote on 11/11/2022, 3:41 PM

Have looked everywhere, but can't find a solution. I wanted to create a keyboard shortcut for "Render as," and went to Options > Customize keyboard. "Render as" was listed as n unassigned command. While attempting to assign a keyboard sequence, somehow I managed to delete the "Render as" command. Is there any way to recover it so I can make the shortcut? Thanks.

Try resetting Vegas. It's FAQ #14.

Thanks for your reply. I knew that a reset would do it, but unfortunately I have dozens of custom settings, and I'm is the middle of several big projects, and don't want to do that. I do always search for an answer on the forum before posting a question. But I couldn't find anything there or online to specifically recover a keyboard command. Deleting it was stupid -- but File > Render isn't much of a chore, after all. Thanks for your quick reply.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how you deleted File.RenderAs from the Default keyboard map in the Explorer category, although it is unassigned. Are you sure it's not still there?

For future Vegas (or Sound Forge) keyboard shortcuts, create a copy of the "keyboard.ini" file in
"C:\Users\-user name-\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS Pro\20.0". You can replace the file or copy/past in the missing commands with a text editor.

Thank you for your help. It was my error. When I initially searched for "Render," "Render as" was listed under Explorer. But when I came back to make the change, the tab had switched back to the default (Trackview), and the list that appeared was the same as before, except that "Render as" was missing. I even missed the difference in the manual and tutorials -- until Musicvid's comment made me realize my stupidity. Thank you!
