I just made the jump from movie studio platinum 17 to vegas pro 18 edit. The first thing I noticed is the scrubbing acts very different. It's very slow and it plays the audio very fast and high pitched while scrubbing. Is there a way to disable this?

Not that I know of besides muting your audio track.
In VP you can drag the cursor over the top (as on your video) or just using the line (I'm grabbing it below tracks on timeline as I only have a few tracks on timeline).
The first one is slow, the second -- fast and no sound. I think it is as in VMS.
