Rendered video too bright

sirdani wrote on 11/20/2017, 11:40 AM

Hi,

The rendered video looks significant brighter than the original:

It looks like colors burned a little, and more brightness/contrast. How can I preserve the original colors for video?

I used Sony AVC/MVC coded "internet 1080p" preset modified to 60fps and highest bitrate. I tried AVCHD codec too but same colors.

The original file vas uncompressed Full HD 60fps avi file recored with OBS Studio with full color range.

You are comparing different things:
- Preview on the timeline of a Vegas Project and
- playing on a video player.
To compare if something is different place the rendered files back on the timeline of that specific project and compare both by the "mute" button.
If you then see a differerence look at your projectsettings, rendersettings or used FX we do not know; if not change the settings of the player.

The main problem I can not change colors in the Sony AVC/MVC codec. Is there any good codec that has this feature?

I uploaded the final video to youtube, and it has the same overburnt colors too. I checked the original AVI files in MPC-HC player and the rendered MP4 files and I can see the color difference.

Here are the photos for two video in same player:

Left is the original, right is the mp4.

Put the Computer RGB->Studio RGB effects filter on the output.

Do you mean this?

Yes. Apply it on the effects button above the preview pane.

You will need to use this filter every time you import AVI from OBS.

Yes. Apply it on the effects button above the preview pane.

And what is the difference between LEVELS and Broadcast Colors? Which is the better solution?

For digital video, Levels is the best solution.

Broadcast Colors allows some slop in the chroma channels, which is not strictly compliant.

Good question.

Now I record videos in MP4, not in AVI. Is studio RGB still neccessary?

Possibly (probably). Since you don't have scopes in VMS, try it both ways and trust your eyes.
