Rendering adding black bars to the sides

Hi all!

So I'm trying to render video clips where the source is 720 x 484 in size. So I put that as the frame size both for the project and when I'm rendering it. (Or rather, I let VEGAS auto-generate the project settings based on the source video, and later check that the size appears to be the same as the source). But for some reason, the rendered version squeezes the picture slightly and adds black bars to the left and right. I've played around with the size a bit, but always get a similar result.

What am I doing wrong?

Check the box that says "Adjust Source Media to Match ..."

It is supposed to correct this.

@evileivind What version of Vegas are you using? What render template are you using? Are the source and result supposed to be widescreen or not? How will the rendered file be played back?

Try this too...

Unless it's for DVD/Blu-ray, embedding a non-square pixel aspect ratio in the rendered file feels a bit dangerous, especially if it's for a client, since it relies on players respecting it.

It's simple ...
you only have to turn off your audio

I was sure I had tried this with no results, but now it worked. Must have done it wrong before.

Thank you, and thank you to everyone who took the time to respond!
