Rendering bug

Marlon-Bravo wrote on 2/7/2020, 2:24 PM

Hello, I recently purchased Sony Vegas Pro 17 Editing software. I am trying to render a video but I am faced with an issue with rendering. Every time I "Render as" a video it says "Vegas Pro Has Stopped Working". I end up having to send a report and it shuts down on me. Could anyone please help me out with this problem?

Help would be most appreciated,

Welcome to this userforum!
First the program is not Sony's but already a longtime it is Magix Vegas Pro.

One thing that helps me avoid this crash... open an empty project, drop any piece of media onto the timeline, click render as. you should see the render as dialog pop up. Close it. Now open the project you wanted to render, it shouldn't crash when you click render as.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Thanks, I've tried but I still encounter the same issue. I appreciate the input anyway.

Does the screen turn white before it crashes?

Marlon-Bravo wrote on 2/7/2020, 6:14 PM

It does not. I do however get a pop up error screen stating "Vegas Pro Has Stopped Working".

I have sent the error report to tech support on the website. I am now awaiting for their response.

@Marlon-Bravo What realy worked for me (so no work-a-round, but fix) is...

1, De-install all Vegas Pro versions that are on your PC

2, Search your PC for any folders left with names as: VP, VEGAS, Sony, MAGIX

3, Restart your PC en install Ccleaner, run both "Cleaner" and "Registry Cleaner"

4, Restart your PC and install Vegas Pro 17 (latest build)

5, Hold CRTL + SHIFT and double click the Vegas icon to open, Vegas asks you if you want to clear all caches, click YES and let Vegas open on your system.

After this, I never had the Render As.. crash again.

Good luck!

Alternative: Revo Uninstall can remove left over folders, registry entries and other garbage the default Windows uninstall procedure leaves behind. Both the freeware and pro version work great.
