Samsung S21 Ultra FPS issue in Vegas 17

Hello, I have a Samsung S21 Ultra 5G that I have been using to shoot video footage in 1080p in "Pro" Mode. I use both 29.97fps and 23.97fps. However, in Vegas 17 it reads the clips (according to the info in the preview window) as 31.99fps and 24.02fps. This seems to be causing render issues. No matter what framerate I select to render to (23.97, 24, 25, 29.97) the output footage always contains "ghosting". 60fps seems to look best, but that's not compatible with streaming services and I didn't actually film in that framerate anyway. It's causing issues on my material passing the "QC" process, so I'm trying to figure out what is going wrong and can't find ANY info about this issue online.

In project properties you most likely have resample mode set to frame blend. If you choose disable resample you you'll get duplicated frames which isn't the best either but it's preferable. There's another option but I forget what it is, as in VP19 it was replaced by optical flow, you can try that other setting too.

The basic problem is the variable frame rate of your phone

@dustin-f Hi, I have a Samsung S 21 Ultra, i don't have any problems in V19 but i do know the files can vary in framerate a fair bit, & I have another program called Boris Silhouette, it might be the programs fault but my phone files play slow in there but if i set the project to 32fps they play at the correct speed, 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

There's a tool called MediaInfo, download it, it's quick & free https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
After downloading, right click on the media in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here, or screen capture that window

or screen capture that window, it's good to understand the files a bit better & it shows the fame rates etc..

this is one of mine, it's MP4 but it's AVC because i have HDR turned off oon the phone, if HDR is on it will show as HEVC which don't always play well with even some modern software,

@Former user Is that Smart Resample you're thinking of? If so it didn't play well with my phone footage, i don't think so anyway. I have it Disabled but Blend works ok too.

Samsung phones generally use Variable Frame Rate, which is not well supported in Vegas Pro 17. MediaInfo should reveal this.

The simplest solution, reported many times on this forum, is to encode to Constant Frame Rate in Handbrake first.

Thank you everyone for the quick and informative replies. I found the "Gear" Icon and changed it to Disable Resample and that made a big difference! My CGI guy is now able to work with the footage much better and it should have no more QC issues. :)
