SAVE AS / EXPORT Enhancement Request for archiving just used portion

A couple of my 4 k cameras save a single .MP4 file, i.e., they don't break and start a new file at 2/4GB. So there are 30 - 60 GB files for a 1 - 2 hour program. But I may only edit 3 - 4 songs of the program. It would save a lot of USB hard drive space if either the SAVE AS or EXPORT function would copy just the used portions of media files. Obviously saving every event would create a lot of files, but saving the portion between the first and last events would be just one file, and what I want because I want the ability to go back and reselect camera angles.

To put some metrics on this, I shoot with 7 cameras a regular program each week which generates about 250GB. And often more events. So, I've been deleting the less critical angles, and still have used 2.3TB since Jan. 1, 2018.

And perhaps this is actually a "bug", since the SAVE AS function with "copy media with project" has a 2nd dialogue box with the option of saving trimmed files. But I've proved it doesn't trim, at least with .MP4 files. (I have v13 and v15.)

I looked for a topic for Vegas Pro enhancements, but a search with "enhancement" and "suggestions" didn't find one. Surely one exists, right?

Mp4 files have to be rendered in Vegas in order to save a trimmed copy or takes.

For subsequent shoots maybe format the cards to Fat32, this should force smaller 4GB pieces of media.

You can losslessly trim your files in VideoRedo. Goes fast.
