I am trying to trim GoPro video and resave as mp4. I checked the option to save it as mp4, but the program still saves it as *.vf. What am I doing wrong? I am running Windows 8. Thanks for your help.
You try to save your project and you are not "Making a movie" or chosed in the Menu "Project" the option "Render as".
But if your GoPro files are already mp4 and you want only cut some pieces you don't need an edit program like Vegas, the free MP4 splitter is enough.
I don't have Platinum. I don't see the "Render As" option. I was using "Save As". I am using this as I intend to eventually make a movie of the clips and want to get used to the program, so I use it as much as I can.

We call this rendering, not saving. Saving as just means, saving the edits/changes you made in your project. See it like the difference between saving and printing a word document.
