Script to move cuts to nearest frame when Quantize to Frames is off?

Quantize to Frames is something I frequently turn off to line up audio for music videos. Sometimes I forget to turn it back on though and that ends up being a complete nightmare when I have to manually go through and move cuts to the actual frames before I move projects to After Effects.

Is there a Vegas script that will go through and do this? Some kind of Quantize to Frames fix?

Excalibur includes a utility that re-aligns (syncs) audio and video in an event. Haven't tried it on your problem but it's worth a try.

Vegasaur and Timeline tools also have this option. I don't know if Timeline tools works on V17 but it is free.

Just added a very simple new script, ReSyncAudio, to the HappyOtterScripts free tools library. For selected events, it changes the start time of the audioevent to that of the videoevent, thus re-syncing. It can be downloaded here https://tools4vegas.com/library/.

AFAIK, TimelineTools was never re-written to support the Magix Versions of Vegas.

I did a lot of this back in the days when we were syncing two cameras and 36 audio inputs. Whether or not using Pluraleyes, My video events and audio reference track were always locked and a backup project saved prior to tackling the audio.

I don't think that fixes this. Vegas is maybe the only editing suite that lets you adjust sub-frame when Quantize to Frame is turned off. It's awesome for a detailed sync. But if you forget to turn it back on then video cuts can happen between frames and that really screws stuff up when you go to do effects. So then you have to go through and manually move each cut to an actual frame rather than a sub-frame. I wish there was a one click option to simply move all cuts to the nearest frame.

Does your script do this?

"Does your script do this?"

No. It works the same as Vegasaur. It simply makes the audio portion of the event have the same start time as the video, thus syncing the 2 streams as originally recorded. So basically, you want to change the audiooffset so that it falls on a frame boundary. In other words, the audio may still be out-of-sync with the video, but its start position will be an a frame boundary. Or do you want to just move the entire event so that it always falls on a frame boundary. If that's the case, I believe that Vegasaur already supports this.

Just checked. Vegasaur indeed supports this. Run Project Auditor which shows unquantized frames and then select Quantize All. Works very well.

Yeah, oftentimes I don't even want the audio associated with the track. It's video set to an entirely different track of music with a million cuts. It's just about making sure those cuts happen on frames.

But I will check out Vegasaur's Project Auditor. That sounds like it does the trick.
