Sonic Foundry Serial Number for Video Capture

Robbs_MetalWorks777 wrote on 12/14/2017, 1:18 PM

Hello All - I could really use someone's help. I am running an OLD version of Sony Vegas 4.0. I am trying to use the 'video capture' within the software, but it is asking me for a serial number. The software is telling me it starts with the letters 'DY'. Does anyone know the serial number & can send my way? ANY assistance would be SO greatly appreciated. Thanks ~ Robb

Serial Number is actually a purchased unique-to-each-user Password to unlock the software. There also may be some requirement for back-to-base internet registration as well, which may or may not work anymore....

Perhaps someone who doesn't use theirs anymore will be happy to give or sell one to you. (I jumped into Vegas at V7.0 so can't help)

You could try starting the vidcap.exe file (which is the capture tool) from the Vegas program folder. With some luck using this .exe file solely doesn't need a SN.

I tried the starting the vidcap file - still asked me for SN. SO if ANYONE does have an old SN to share PLEASE SEND MY WAY. Thanks all!

It is illegal to "share" the SN and posting it would force to delete the post and block the poster (and you). So please don't ask to share the SN.

What ChristoC suggested is a different kettle of fish but this needs an official transfer of the license ownership.

Another option is to download and run the current demo version of Vegas Pro 15 or Movie Studio 14 which also contain the VidCap tool and would let you use it for a certain time.

Scenalyzer is for DV.

HDVSplit is for HDV.

Both excellent apps which I relied on for years.
