"Squeeze" stretched video instead of a letterbox

1. Vegas Version 14 Build 270

2. Windows 10 Pro Version 1709

3. Footage from Shadowplay from Nvidia

4. Final product YouTube 1080p/16:9 video

Hello. I have a small issue. I want to send my video game footage to someone, but they require it in aforementioned 16:9 HD format. Which is a problem, since I use a 21:9 3440x1440 monitor. Most things set to a lower resolution just add black bars, but the game I want to record does not. It just stretches and looks ugly. And my recording software doesn't let me record non-fullscreen games.

So what I was thinking, would it be possible for me to record that stretched out 3440x1440 footage, and then just take it into Vegas, and instead of rendering with black bars in 1080p, just squeeze it back down? Essentially force those pixels back into a lower aspect ratio and resolution at which the footage would look "normal" and un-stretched again. Thanks!

You can crop, you can squeeze (distort!) or you can have bars.

There is no fourth choice due to the limitations of Plane Geometry, unfortunately :-)

Well yeah, but since the original is just 1080p stretched to 3440p, can't I just squeeze that footage back into that resolution&ratio?

Are you saying you are already recording distorted video from your screen?

And want to correct the aspect?

If your game source is truly 16:9, it may be possible using Track Motion.
