SUGGESTION: 25fps to 50fps?

Laci-Kobulsky wrote on 2/27/2019, 1:26 PM

Hi, I am working on a project that will be exported in 50fps, 95% of the shots were shot in 50fps or higher but I have few drone shots at 25fps, some of them I can double speed but some no, so in final video they act jittery.

Now the question - would you know about some plugin or other way which can smooth out those 25fps shots?

One suggestion would be Twixtor.

The other would be Davinci Resolve, it has optical flow frame interpolation:

Is your 25 fps interlaced or progressive?

Here's how to tell.

Do this for both 25fps and 50fps source.

I may know a trick.

I'm quite sure that trick will work if that source is interlaced 😉

When it was interlaced, he probably had written 50i.

Acrovid Intertake can also render with optical flow.

You could also try Happy Otter Scripts at https://tools4vegas.com/ which include a couple of tools that support frame rate processing. Here's a screenshot of the Avisynth settings dialog in Render +. It shows the types of filters that can be applied including frame rate changes and slow motion Fx. Under the hood, these tools are based on motion flow interpolation.

@wwaag

Does this 25 to 50 framerate conversion eliminate the jittery caused by not filming the 25 media with a 180 degrees shutter?

wwaag wrote on 2/28/2019, 12:00 PM

@3POINT

I honestly can't answer that. HOS uses the same Avisynth script for both framerate conversion and slow motion. I claim no credit for the script itself which was written by John Meyer, although some who have tried it on this forum, report that it compares favorably with Twixtor. My suggestion is to either "try it" or upload a short 25P sample and I'll post the results.

Quite a few useful tips! Thanks guys.
@klt thanks, I tought Twixor is only for slowing shots down, will look into it. Also how about RSMB plugin? https://revisionfx.com/products/rsmb/vegas-pro/

@Musicvid shots are Progressive, guess no help there :)

Twixtor will do the job with progressive source. Will check your other link.
