The crop/pan tool acts weird

Hi everybody. This is my first post here. I used to use Magix Movie Edit Pro but recently have also started using Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum build 122. So far I'm sold on it but there is one thing that I just can't figure out and it's driving me crazier.

Dilemma: sometimes the pan/crop tool works in reverse. Example, sometimes when I try to scale down it scales it up Conversely, when I try to scale an object up it scales it down. When move something to the right it moves it to the left. It does this intermittently which causes me to think there is something I'm doing something wrong or not doing something I should be doing something.

Hopefully someone can show me the error of my ways.

This is the way Pan/Crop always works. Think of it as if your video is being projected onto a canvas. What Pan/Crop scales and moves isn't the projection of your video but the canvas.

Or you can think of it as a camera. You are changing the camera zoom and pan, not the picture.

Hmm, I was sure I saw a video explaining it and it worked like I thought it should have worked. Clearly I got that part wrong and need to watch it again. It seems weird but now that I know it, I can work with it. There are a few differences between Vegs and Magix movie editor that will take some getting used to. Thanks for the replies.
