There is no licence to use this software

migufigu wrote on 12/15/2019, 9:50 PM

Hello.

Some time ago I've bought Vegas Pro v14.0 on Humble Bundle. But now, it's not working - after some short time (like one minute), anything file-related like saving or rendering ends up with message box with "There is no licence to use this software" - and after clicking "OK" button, Vegas shuts down and the project is not saved, so I've lost all my work.

I have found just one related question on steam with one solution. The guy named "Calabre" suggested reinstalling Vegas. Which helped for the first time, but now, it started again.

What can I do with this? Thanks!

I have the same version. If you previously registered, your serial numbers can be found here.

I could not even start VP16 and VP17 because it said I had no license. This after using VP16 for a year and 17 for the last month. I did the uninstall/reinstall several times. Each time prompted to enter serial number. Success! VP started. But when I exited the software and tried restarting it again, No serial number. It was like I was using a trial version and it had expired.

I then used Revo Uninstaller Pro paid version. There is a Free version you can try. First, I tried using moderate when searching registry. I checked what was there and chose not to remove registry links for VP14, 15 and OFX because they loaded up fine. Then, it searches for leftover folders. Again, I made sure nothing related to VP14, 15 and OFX were touched. Reinstalled first VP16 and tested. UGH! Same problem again. Next with Revo, I used Advance for Registry and folder hunting. I still didn't touch anything related to 14, 15, and OFX when those windows opened. Then reinstalled VP16. Success! Then did the same thing for VP17 and all is well again.

@set yes, after using Revo Pro in Advance (there is Safe, Moderate and Advance), watching what Revo was going to remove in both Registry and Folders (I left VP14 and 15 and all OFX by making sure they were unchecked), and then letting Revo do it's thing. I did try in Moderate, but still had the same issue. I did this first to VP16. When I reinstalled, put in serial number, it's been working ever since. Then I did the same thing with VP17, but also left VP16 registry and folders. No problems after that.

I frequently recommend the Revo Uninstaller over on the Sound Forge forum. As well, CC Cleaner to get rid of unneeded files and other registry trash. Both the Revo Uninstaller and CC Cleaner have free and 'pro' versions

That's a good combination. If I reach a level of frustration, I'll let Revo Advance remove everything and then follow up with Ccleaner. It usually works.
