Unwanted audio ducking?

Hello! I've been using Movie Studio 14.0 Platinum for several years, but after installing it on a new computer I'm suddenly having an issue I've never had before. There seems to be some sort of audio ducking effect happening that I didn't set up and don't want - I have music playing under a voiceover track, and any time there's a brief moment of silence in the voiceover, the volume of the music increases. I've removed all track effects from all of my audio tracks, I've confirmed that there are no audio effects active in the master, I've tried moving the music into various new audio tracks, I've tried adjusting the music volume both with the gain slider and the volume audio effect, I've tried opening a whole new project, and it keeps happening no matter what I do. I've been desperately searching the software help and I can't find anything related to this issue. Any idea what could be happening here?

It's more likely that your footage was shot with AGC turned on. No version of Vegas has native ducking or agc to my knowledge, although such a thing "may" be enabled in your computer's audio interface properties. Never can tell these days.

If you would like confirmation of this, upload an original file sample as described here in Section C3.

You could also try a factory reset. Instructions here.

Thank you! I hadn't even thought that it might be on the audio interface end of my computer. I rendered, uploaded to YouTube, and listened on a different machine, and the effect was gone. Now to search out the setting in Realtek...
