Vegas 17 Platinum - multi camera editing... HELP please!

LaVelle wrote on 7/29/2020, 3:46 PM

I am trying to edit raw footage from 3 cameras. I have them all trimmed so they are starting and end within frames of each other. I have synchronized them using the audio sync tool thingy. I have the whole thing set to the multi-camera editing settings but my preview window only shows the video on the top layer. Everything I am reading suggests that the program should automatically preview each of the video tracks simultaneously but it just isn't happening and I can't find whatever setting it is that will make the preview screen shift to showing all three tracks. What am I missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to provide a screenshot from your previewscreen viewing this?

Hmmmm... good question. Lemme try.

As it turns out, yes I can lol. Does that help?

Getting closer to figuring it out.... It seems that I have to create a multicamera track. Now, I am selecting all of the tracks and then telling the program to create a multicamera track - but it doesn't seem to be creating that track. I think once I can get that to work, the preview will provide each of the camera angles.

It looks like you are selecting multiple events, not tracks. Hold Ctrl while clicking each track header.

Also, it's a good idea to Render copies to New Tracks before creating the Multicam Track. You'll be glad you did.

.... and switch your "Split Screen View"- button to off.

Here's my easy tutorial on the multicam editor, if that helps.

Thank you Steve :) I have watched your video on sync'ing up the tracks via the audio sync thingy- and it was really good! I like your teaching style very much! I will happily watch any and all of your tutorials. Very helpful :) thank you.
