Vegas dont open .TS .MKV

PolemmicoDVJ wrote on 9/9/2017, 8:21 AM

Hello, warriors.

Well, I can not open files with these extensions (.TS .MKV) in my VP13 64B Build 310, I would like to know why and if there is any plugin or add-on that can make it happen.

My NB is a Dell Inspiron, 8GB ram - Nvidia GForce 1GB - i7 - 1TB - W10.

I do not want to be converting the file to a format that Vegas can open.

I would like to open the original file in Vegas.

Thanks for the answers and help.

Vegas Pro does not support MKV containers. You need to rewrap into another container like MP4 dependend on how video and audio is encoded in that MKV file.

Not all .TS is compatible...

Where this .TS file came from?

Comes from video sites on the internet. like Vevo.

I often record TV shows off the air to my computer. They are .ts files, which really are MPEG-2 files with some extra information to allow people to start watching TV at any time. Vegas 14 does open those files for me. So I have to agree with Set.

The video and audio are sometimes not where you would expect in the mpeg2 .ts files from sat tv, perhaps your clips are similar. You can use ffmpeg to remap the main video and audio to 0 and 1, then save as .mp4.

You can use say, the Mediainfo program to see which index the video and audio streams you are interested in are located at first.

TS means Transport Stream.

They are an acquisition and hardware delivery format.

As such, they can contain allowable stream errors, and depending on the number and severity, may or may not open in a nonlinear editor

All broadcast-source contains LOTS of errored packets, which players and teevees are designed to fudge through, usually without choking. Unfortunately, nonlinear editors, which must UNPACK TO RAW BITS, have no such luxury or capability.

If you remove the errors, you are basically left with a compliant mpeg-2 Program Stream.

Vegas and other nonlinear editors are designed to open Program Streams (or errorless transport streams) for editing.

Muxers that can change the Stream Type do not correct stream errors. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

The probable short answer to your question is called Videoredo. There is a trial version.
